Steven J. Picardi is a solo practitioner specializing in workers' compensation claims. He received his Bachelor's degree in 1988 from Western Maryland College (now known as McDaniel College), and his Juris Doctorate in 1991 from The Dickinson School of Law of the Pennsylvania State University. Following graduation from law school, Mr. Picardi moved to Denver and began practice as a workers' compensation defense attorney. In 1993, he joined Kennedy & Christopher, P.C., specializing in workers' compensation and professional malpractice defense litigation. On February 1, 1999, Mr. Picardi joined Glasman, Jaynes & Picardi, LLP, continuing to defend self-insured employers in all phases of workers' compensation litigation. He became a solo practitioner in October 2000. He is a member of the Colorado Defense Lawyers Association and the Colorado Bar Association's Workers' Compensation Committee.
In addition to handling all phases of workers' compensation claims, Mr. Picardi has lectured and written extensively on the subjects of workers' compensation and legal ethics. He also works closely with his clients' in-house legal counsel in a variety of legal issues involving questions of workers' compensation law, including: coordinating employment and disability issues; assessing the impact of workers' compensation issues in the purchase of subsidiary companies and business ventures; preparing the claims departments of self-administered clients and third party administrators for audits with the Division of Workers' Compensation; and representing clients in general self-insurance issues and bond issues with the Division of Workers' Compensation Self-Insurance Program.
